SECOND ROUND OF THE ACADEMY OF CITIZENS
"Academy for citizens" organized by the Administrative Service of the Municipality of Bijeljina and the OSCE Office in Bijeljina began its second round by lecturing on local government and elections for the bodies of municipality and local communities.
70 students applied for the second round of the Academy, and, at the eight classes, they would acquire basic knowledge about the work of local government, plans and practices in work of administration and public enterprises under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Bijeljina.
Representatives of the Municipality of Bijeljina and the OSCE said that the goal of the Academy is spreading knowledge of citizens about the system of local government and raising awareness of the need and possibilities for citizen participation in local decision-making process.
At the following sessions, the participants will have the opportunity to here about joint development plans and realization through the Municipal budget planning, urban development and environmental protection, public safety and services to citizens that provide assistance in emergency situations, the services for citizens available by the Municipality, Municipal enterprises and institutions, ways for citizens to be partner with the Municipality and civil society activists, and the mechanisms of communication and participation that are available to citizens. Topic of the eighth and final lecture will be selected by attendants of the Academy.
